Kobujoi Water Cluster Project, Nandi County

Project Overview and Context

The Kobujoi Water Cluster Project is a critical infrastructure development initiative aimed at enhancing water supply and sanitation services for the residents of the Kobujoi area in Nandi County. This project is financed by the Lake Victoria North Water Works Development Agency (LVNWWDA), demonstrating a commitment to improving water access and reliability within the region. The successful completion of this project is expected to significantly increase the capacity and efficiency of water distribution, ensuring sustainable service delivery to the targeted communities.

Scope of Work (Key Deliverables)

The project encompasses the construction and installation of several key components designed to capture, treat, store, and distribute water effectively. The scope of work is broken down into the following deliverables:

  • Intake Works: Construction and finishing of the intake weir structure to efficiently abstract raw water from the source, ensuring system reliability and protection against environmental factors.
  • Electromechanical Works: Installation and commissioning of all necessary electromechanical equipment (e.g., pumps, controls, and ancillary machinery) required for the movement and treatment of water within the system.
  • Storage Tank Construction (Sump): Construction of a 100 cubic meter (100m3) capacity masonry water tank designed to act as a sump, receiving water directly from the intake.
  • Gravity Mains: Laying of the gravity transmission pipeline connecting the intake works directly to the 100m3 sump/storage tank.
  • Raising Mains and Primary Storage: Installation of the raising main pipeline to pump water from the 100m3 sump to the main 500 cubic meter (500m3) primary storage tank for distribution to the command area.

Project Goal

To construct and commission a robust, fully operational water supply infrastructure that ensures reliable, safe, and sustainable water provision to the Kobujoi Water Cluster service area, in line with the objectives of the LVNWWDA.

Handover Status

This description is prepared for the Handover Phase of the project, marking the successful completion of the stated scope of work and the transition of the constructed assets to the relevant water services provider or community for operation and management.
